Green Roof Trailer Blog

We moved the trailer to Central Roofing to install the membrane and other green roof elements on our green roof demo trailer.

We used a peel-and-stick waterproofing membrane. We doubled the membrane at the corners and around our drainage scuppers.

Rex at Central Roofing said our membrane installation job was worth offering me an apprentice job at $10/ hour. Another roofer at Central thought $10 was far too low - until he realized it took us two hours to install. Chris and I, though, were pretty impressed with our first membrane installation.

The root barrier is 9-mil black plastic. When using an asphalt-based membrane, you need this extra layer to keep roots from trying to penetrate the asphalt.
